How to make a receipt?

Receipts are now used even for informal deals on the requirement of customers. May be you don’t have a cash register to record data and take print out of receipt when needed. But you need a professional bill or receipt for your business. Due to it there is a proof of amount paid by customer and received by you.
Receipts prove useful for your own records. You can write receipts by hand or create it by computer and take print it out.

How to make a receipt?

For making a receipt, follow these points.
Header:
  • Create a header.
  • On the receipt in first line mention the name of your company.
  • After it add contact details like address and phone number. So customer can contact you in any case.
  • Include your store hours or websites. It is optional.
  • Write date and time of transaction.

List the items:

Receipt is used as a reference between customer and business. It is very important to make proper list of item. So,
·         Mention all the items.
·          Add their descriptions.
·          Write code of each product.
·         You can also write ISBN with each item.
·          Write price at the right side of list.

Specific details about transaction:

Add all details of transaction that are particularly related to it.  For example if you send receipt online then add
  • Name of buyer.
  •  Address of buyer under the header of company.
  • Number of purchased items.

Sales tax:

In receipt write sales tax. Sale tax of your state can easily find online. Some seller charge extra tax on different items like food etc. you can find sales tax easily by looking receipt as on receipt sales tax is mentioned.

Give total:

One essential thing while making receipt is to give the total.
  • Do total of sales tax and price of products together.
  • Use calculator to double-check the calculation.
  • In last space down and enter the total amount of purchase.

Go digital:

Go on your website and use a shopping cart. If you refer PauPal then they will send a receipt to your customers even your customer aren’t singed in. in this way you can save your time instead of doing lot of work. It is use full if your business expanded more than your thoughts.

Use of MS Office:

Create cash receipt on Microsoft Office. By using MS Office receipt that comes out will professional. This is easiest program to make receipt.
  • Download a cash receipt template from the website of Microsoft free of cost.
  • After downloading check that either you have download it for a Word or Excel. (download it on Word)
  • Then add

    • Header
    • Items
    • Sale tax
    • Total
By following these all points your receipt will completely ready. You can send the file either digitally or can mail a copy of receipt to your customer.
